厦门大学嘉庚学院机电工程系,依托母体学校——厦门大学的优质资源办学,创办了机械设计制造及其自动化、机械电子工程、电气工程及其自动化、车辆工程等4个本科专业,是首批与厦门大学开展联合培养专业硕士试点单位。目前,已拥有厦门大学•  厦门大学嘉庚学院机电工程训练国家级示范中心和“十二五”福建省实验教学示范中心。围绕培养学生的基础知识、实践能力和创新意识,搭建“多层次、多功能、多渠道、全开放”的教学平台,形成“知识—能力—素质—个性”协调发展的教学体系,建成了普通机械加工、数控加工、特种加工、电工电子、电光液气传动、自动检测控制、CAD/CAM  PLC、电机与拖动、柔性系统、电子工艺、机电创新设计、电力系统、维修电工、机器人等20多个基础和专业实验室;建成了学院第一个国家级职业技能培训和鉴定站;由企业资助设立了学院第一个系级大学生创新基金,为学生的知识教育、科研能力和综合素质的培养创造良好条件。

回顾历史,成绩喜人。自2004年创办的这11年来,机电工程系在学院的正确领导和全系师生员工的共同努力下,在校学生规模从53名扩大到1100多名,专任教师从2人增加到39人,副高以上职称的教师比例约占60%,实现了第一轮的跨越式发展目标。在建设6项省级教学改革质量工程项目的过程中取得成效,其中主编和参编出版的教材14部,引导、示范和辐射我系教学改革的全面开展。校企合作取得一系列成果,建立了包括西门子、厦门金龙、福建泰华等20多家校外实习基地和校企产学研合作平台,多项合作研制的科研项目得到推广应用,还获得多项省市级支持的科研课题项目;与教育部-西门子2013年产学合作项目正在积极开展之中。高度重视学生的能力培养,学生综合能力得到有效提升,在三维创新大赛中、“飞思卡尔”智能车大赛、大学生工程训练综合能力竞赛和数学建模竞赛等国家和省级各种技能比赛中获奖上百项,各类大学生创新实验项目近百项;师生发表的学术论文上百篇,申请和获批专利40多项;学生就业率保持在95%以上,就业单位遍及西门子、金龙、泰华、豪氏威马、ABB等著名公司及全国各地,受到很好的评价;有不少学生成为了企业单位的技术骨干或评为公司的优秀员工;有的学生还自主创业,形成了自主品牌产品。

展望未来,信心满载。机电工程系师生将秉承“自强不息、止于至善”的校训,抓住面向工业4.0的发展机遇,推动机电工程系新一轮的跨越式发展。我们将主动适应国家经济、科技和社会发展对高素质人才的需求,根据应用型人才的办学定位,发挥以省级工程训练示范中心、省级精品课程和省级创新实验区的教学改革质量工程项目的平台优势,优化专业结构,深化教改内涵,努力打造一支以专教授为核心,以专任教师为主导和以企业技术精英为骨干的“三结合”优秀教学团队;坚持为学生服务、以提高本科教学质量为中心,致力于完善经受市场检验、受到业界认可、具有借鉴价值和推广意义的人才培养方案;努力培养具有较强团队合作精神和“个性化”特征的拔尖人才。努力把机电工程系建设成为办学质量优、知名度高、综合实力强、独立学院一流、具有应用型人才培养特色的优质本科专业。

  

With access to the rich teaching resources of Xiamen  University, Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (DMEE) of Xiamen  University Tan Kah Kee College (TKK College) has launched four undergraduate  degree programs, namely, Mechanical Design & Manufacturing &  Automation,Mechanical & Electronic Engineering, and Electrical Engineering  & Automation,and Vehicle Engineering, which is first allowed to joint training master  degree with Xiamen University of the trial unit. Also, we have  established the Demo Center at the national level for mechanical and electrical  engineering training and the twelfth five year plan for  provincial experiment teaching demonstration center. Aiming at cultivating in  the students their basic skills, engineering abilities and innovating  competence,To build multi-level and multi-function, multi-channel, full open  practice teaching platform, forming the knowledge, ability, quality,  personality the coordinated development of practical teaching system, and more  than 20 basis and professional laboratory in such areas as mechanical machining,  CNC machining, special processing, electrical engineering and electronics,  electro-optical, liquid and gas transmission, automatic detection and control,  CAD/CAM, PLC, electrical machine and transmission, flexible system, electronic  process, innovative electro-mechanical design, power system, maintenance  electricians and robots. In addition, DMEE has built the Training and  Accreditation Station for Professional Skills at the national level, the first  one in TKK College,Along with the first Departmental Undergraduate Innovation  Fund, which has been sponsored by businesses. Consequently, a good environment  has formed for the development of the students’  knowledge education, research capacity as well as their  comprehensive quality.

Since 2004 when DMEE was founded, we have produced  plenty of fruits over the past eleven years. Thanks to the wise leadership of  the directors of TKK College and the joint efforts made by the faculty and the  students, we have attained our goal of leap-development for the first round. Now  the number of the students has increased from 53 to over 1,100. The number of  full-time teachers has increased from 2 to 39, of whom about 60% are associate  professors and professors. In building the six provincial quality teaching  reform projects, we have comprehensively conducted the teaching reform of our  department, published independenly and collaboratively 14 textbooks. Cooperation  with bussinesses has also yielded harvests. Off-campus internship bases and the  platforms for production and learning and research have been established in  cooperation with over 20 companies such as Siemens, Xiamen Golden Dragon, and  Huatai Company. Some of those collaborative research projects have been put into  practice,and have also gotten severalscientific research projects which is supported by provincial and  municipal level;the collaborative project with the ministry of education of  Siemens since 2013 is still being developing. As a result of our focus on the  students’ integrated ability, the students’ comprehensive abilityhas improved a  lot,and they have earned a total of over 100  awards in a variety of competitions at either the provincial or national  level, including the Grand 3D Innovation Competition, “Freescale”  Smart Car Competition, Undergraduate Engineering Training Integrated Ability  Contest, or Mathematic Modeling Contest. They have also completed almost one  hundredUndergraduate Innovation and  Experimental Projects. So far, the teachers and students have got more than 100  research papers published and more than 40 patents granted. and the employment  rates of our graduates have remained over 95%, and they have been well received  by the companies they work for, even such famous companies as Siemens, Golden  Dragon, Taihua,Huisman,ABB,and etc. Now  some of those graduates have become the major technical forces in companies,  while some have built up their own business with their distinctive  brands.

Looking  ahead, we are full of confidence. The faculty members and the students of DMEE  will follow the motto of Xiamen University: “Pursue excellence and strive for  perfection”, so as to grasp the development opportunity for industrial 4.0 and  achieve another round of leap-development We will actively adapt to the needs of  economic, technological, and social development for high quality professionals.  We will reorient our education to produce application-type graduates. We will  take full advantage of the platforms of Provincial Demo Center, Provincial  Select Course, and Provincial Innovative Experimental Zone, optimize the major  structure, deepen our teaching reform, and form a teaching team with experts and  professors as its core, full-time teachers as its main part, and technicians  from companies as its juice. We will adhere to the principle of  student-centeredness, give priority to the improvement of teaching quality, and  commit ourselves to the perfection of Undergraduate Development Program so as to  be able to stand the test of the market, receive the recognition from other  higher education institutions, and be of great reference value. We will strive  to foster the team spirit in the undergraduates and turn them into outstanding  individuals. We will make every effort to make DMEE a popular first-class  department with high educational quality, integrated strength, and  application-oriented characteristics.
